Yazoo
Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke are Yazoo

Yazoo (known as Yaz in the USA) was an elektropop band that made two albums in 1982 and 1983. Despite limited productivity the music of former Depeche Mode synthman Vince Clarke and blues singer Alison Moyet lives in numerous original editions and later re-issues, as well as covers.

It was exactly the combination of Clarke’s almost metallic melodies with Moyet’s warm vocals that made Yazoo stand out among the many bands that explored electronic music in the early eighties. Mainly known for club classics like ‘Don’t go’ and ‘Situation’, it is easily forgotten that the band also excelled in thoughtful lyrics.
